New Evacuation Zones In Hillsborough County

The new evacuation zone map just released in Hillsborough County will put 75,000 residents in a zone for the first time. The new zone is for residents in East Tampa, as well as to the south of Egypt Lake Ledo, and in the Sun City Center area. To check your zone, click here. Don’t forget to get those supplies ready for what is predicted to be a busy hurricane season. Disaster Preparedness shopping is underway and ends this Friday. The usual items are back on the list like flashlights and lanterns that cost $40 or less; radios costing $50 or less and make sure a few of those use batteries and have the weather alert feature. If you need tarps they are also included if the cost $100 or less; coolers costing $60 or less; batteries costing $50 or less; smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectors costing $70 or less; and, generators costing $1,000 or less. And for the first time, you can shop tax-free for certain pet supplies.

A big night at AMALIE Arena as the Tampa Bay Lightning tied the series with the New York Rangers with a 4-1 win in the Eastern Conference Finals. The series now goes back to New York for game five tonight at 8 pm; game six will be back at AMALIE Arena Saturday night at 8 pm. If a game seven is necessary, that’s back in New York on Wednesday the 14th at 8 pm. The Lightning will once again open the Arena for a watch party for tonight’s game.

Pinellas County Commissioners have voted to stop the sale of dogs and cats in any new stores. Existing stores can still continue sales, but with tighter regulations. Those stores will also have to provide records from vets. minimum cage requirements as well as the pet’s background,
